ANNUAL REPORT 2018-19

 

Good evening to each and every one present here on the occasion of the 40th Annual Day celebration of our school.

 

I take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the most revered Chief Guest Dr. A.K. Bhaduri, distinguished scientist, DIRECTOR IGCAR and Chairman VMC, KV-2 Kalpakkam, esteemed Guest of Honour Mr. A. Jyothish Kumar, Chairman Nominee, VMC KV-2 and the special Guest Mrs. Indrani Bhaduri. I also accord hearty welcome to the other dignitaries on and off the dais, members of Alumni association, all the parents, staff members and students to the 40thAnnual day celebration of our school.

 

The academic year 2018-19 has been purposeful and fruitful. The year witnessed many milestones of excellent achievements in academics, CCA, Sports and Games which aimed at improving the quality education and the holistic development of our students.

 

As we stand at the threshold of the academic session 2019-20, we look forward towards confronting challenges of the future that motivates us into new and green pastures in the field of education.

 

I deem it a privilege to present before you a brief report of the achievements of the school for the academic year 2018-19.

 

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, a pace setting organisation in the field of education has always accorded highest priority to the constant up gradation of skills through In-Service Training programmes. The members of the Staff have been active in widening the horizon of knowledge by attending In-service courses and workshops organised by KVS.

 

Nine teachers from Primary and Secondary attended Induction Courses and eight teachers attended Awakened Citizen Programme courses.

 

Our faculty had attended many workshops and courses like Hindi Raj Bhasha Workshop, Scout & Guide Workshop, Sports Management Workshop, SST Subject Enrichment Workshop, National Children’s Congress Orientation Programme, Learning Disability and Inclusive Education Workshop, SBSB and JIGYASA workshops.

 

Academic Results:

The success of a school is measured by the academic results produced at the end of the year.The school reaped a rich harvest of academic results in AISSE & AISSCE (X&XII) 2018. We secured 100% results in X and XII.

The credit of the Excellent Performance is attributed to a number of new initiatives undertaken by the teachers and the school.

Board Examination Results 2017-18

The school produced excellent results in the Board examination AISSCE and AISSE 2018. KV No.2 Kalpakkam stood Second in Chennai region in AISSCE 2018 with PI of 82.94.

     The above 05 Students received CERTIFICATE OF MERIT and cash awards of Rs.10,000/- each for his/her position in the top 1.5 % of KVS Students in the All India Senior Certificate Examination 2018. 

Nandini SR class XII, received Certificate of Merit from  CBSE, in Physics & CS for the outstanding academic  performance and for being among the Top 0.1 % of successful candidates.

           ( A total of 95 thousand has been received from KVS to distribute 14 students. (Class X: 09 students and Class XII: 05 students).

SCIENCE ACHIEVEMENTS 2018-19

Our students represent the school for national and regional level science competitions. Aswath and Adithyan of class VIII A represented KV2 Kalpakkam at National Children’s Science Congress. A.Janani of XI A represents the school for 46th Jawaharlal Nehru Science Exhibition. Our students also secured gold medals in Science Olympiad and Cyber Olympiad. Three of them secured third position in Science Quiz conducted by IGCAR. Two students cleared first level SPOT exam conducted by VSSE. Devu Vijayan of class IX and Ram Prabhu of class VIII were District level toppers in VVM exam and attended State Level Camp.

 

Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Camp/social science exhibition

KVS conducts Social Science exhibition to ignite interest and explore the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country by the young student and also to develop a sense of pride in being a part of it.

It was organised in the Vidyalaya on 18th July,2018.. 300 student displayed various aspects of Jammu Kashmir and Japan through eco-friendly exhibit in chart, models, albums besides student participated in English and Hindi debate, quiz ,group song, group dance, classical solo dance, solo song, spell bee, creative writing, on the spot painting, Sanskrit shloka recitation, theatre, and English elocution the exhibition organised at cluster level on 04th Sep,2018 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS Tambaram & Regional level on 6-7th Sep, 2018 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF Avadi. Our 6 students got first position, 6 students got second position and 3 Students got 3rd position in cluster level Social Science exhibition.  Our 3 students got first, second and third position in Regional level Social Science exhibition.  Sukanya Ganguly got first position in English debate in National level Social Science exhibition which was conducted in New Delhi.

 

Youth Parliament

With a view to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the views of others and to enable the student community to know something about the working of Parliament, National Youth Parliament Competition in the Kendriya Vidyalaya is conducted throughout the country. The Vidyalaya participated in Regional level Youth parliament. 53 students were participated in Youth Parliament and in first attempt our Vidyalaya secured 2nd position in Regional Level Youth Parliament which was held in Kendriya Vidyalaya, AFS, Avadi on 29th August, 2018.

 

Common Minimum Programme (CMP)

CMP (Common Minimum Programme) is a platform to channelize the enthusiasm and energy of the primary children in an effective manner. Learning in a friendly environment in a playful manner with the help of various activities has a major role to play in achieving the goal of holistic development of a child. Various programmes like field trips, community lunch, film shows were conducted for primary students.

 

Sports And Games Achievements:2018-2019

We had tremendous achievement in Sports and Games. 55 students represented KVS National meet in various Sports and Games. Among them, 21 were position holders of First, Second, third and fourth respectively. Five students won SSPF in State Level Athletics. Sports and Games achievers received a cash awards from KVS.

CCA (Co-curricular Activities)

            Co-Curricular activities serve to stimulate the students into streamlining their potentials for the overall development of their personality.

            Apart from the national festivals, we have observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Matru Bhasha Diwas, Vigilance Awareness week, Fire Safety Awareness, National Literacy Day, Hindi Pakhwada, National Constitution Day etc. Our students displayed enthusiasm in participating in all competitions and won laurels to the vidyalaya.

            CCA Department keeps our children participating in the events throughout the year.

Bharat Scouts and Guides

Rajya Puraskar:                                                              

06 scouts and 06 Guides have successfully received Rajya Puraskar Award at  KV, OFT, Trichy and KV HAPP, Trichy from 16th to 20th JULY 2018.   

TSPL Camp:

            15 scouts and 10Guides have successfully completed the Tritiya SopanTesting camp conducted at KV,ARAKKONAM from 27th to 30th JUNE 2018.

Scouts and Guides Guard of Honour:

Scouts and Guides welcome chief Guest during Sports day celebration, Independence day celebrations, Republic day celebrations, Annual day celebrations etc.,

 

Club Activities

The school is a hub of activities as various clubs namely Integrity club, Nature club, Eco club, Heritage club, Mathematics club, Literary club and AEP club provide a variety of opportunity to students to nourish and nurture their talents by organizing competitions, inspirational lectures, awareness rally and field trips.

 

Medical Check up

The Vidyalaya conducts medical check-up for the students of class 1 to 12 once in an academic year by qualified doctors from Government medical institutions.

 

Adolescence Education Programme:

Under AEP, we impart accurate and adequate knowledge about the process of growing up with a focus on reproductive and sexual health in its biological, psychological and socio-cultural dimensions, emotional health and coping with life skills. Regular classes are conducted for the students of VIII to XI.

PTA

PTA has been a great pillar of support in helping the institution for conducting various activities for students.  The Vidyalaya is grateful to the parents who always extended their helping hands for the benefit of the students.

 

Conclusion

 

I take this opportunity to thank our Chief Guest of this occasion Dr. A.K. Bhaduri, Director IGCAR and chairman VMC KV2 for having consented to grace the occasion as the chief guest. He has been all along with us in accomplishing the targets with ease and comfort.

 

I am grateful to Shri. A. Jyothishkumar, Chairman Nominee VMC KV2 for his invaluable presence as the Guest of Honour for our Annual Day Celebration and the unstinting support he provides for the smooth functioning of the Vidayalaya.

I extend my thanks to the PTA, members of Alumni Association and all those who contributed their services to the Vidyalaya.

I convey my thanks to all the students who participated in the academic and co-curricular activities and brought laurels to the alma mater. I also thank all the staff members who have been the guiding spirit behind the success of the students.

 

I render my praises to God Almighty who has hitherto blessed us and I pray that He continues to bless us with abiding success in all our ventures in the years to come.
